The Saint God, Chapter Three
Billboard sits down with industry icon, Mykki Milan to get the scoop on his third era.
B: Thank you for taking the time to interview with us Mykki, it's a pleasure to be interviewing such a legend.
M: Thank you for having me Billboard.
B: You've announced you're third era and it recieved quite the buzz, what can we expect from this era?
M: Every Mykki release has got that special buzz. *Mykki would laugh gracefully* There’s a lot to come during the third era. My new single drops extremely soon and I can’t wait to share it. I want everybody to expect many videos, new endorsements and major brand deals to be released. Promotional wise, it’ll be like the last two era’s but on a much more larger scale. I’m currently in meeting processes regarding shows and tours for this era. I think that’s enough revealing for now!
B: How is it different from your previous eras?
M: I feel this era will be very different to my previous two era’s. Why? Because I think my debut and sophomore albums were me building my image, almost as if I was proving why I deserve the support, the love and the craze as to what I receive. Now this era... it’s about being laid back, flaunting and showing off everything I’ve worked for!
B: Can you spill anything on what we'll be seeing in the future?
M: *Mykki would look down smirking* Just know this era will be very alarming. Things will be dropping like crazy... any time... any moment. I know the Milan Army are prepared.
B: You've come a long way since your genesis. How do you feel being such an icon in this industry?
M: I feel extremely proud knowing that I’ve worked for each and every achievement that has came my way. I put lengthy amounts of time to perfect every project that I’m involved in. Whether it be studio sessions, set work, performances... it’s all worked hard for. It’s truly a blessing to be respected so strongly in this industry. To be labelled as an “icon”, “legend” and “king” truly makes me proud. I amaze my own self to have earned such a high position, something that I’ve worked for so passionately.
B: Any advice to the upcoming artists out there?
M: I get this question asked very frequently in my interviews and I think it’s a great question. The reason I say this is because I know the newer artists look up to me and my brand. I want them to follow the similar principles so they can also have a powerful legacy. I think new artists need to focus on building their brand. That’s their main focal point as they launch their journey. A new artist needs to amaze the public by making them fall in love with you. Performances, videos/songs, teaming with brands. These aspects are key. Recently I’ve seen artists just drop singles and albums. Where is the promotion these days? Another aspect is being humble and hardworking. Respecting others and refraining from twitter arguments is something that’s been lacking a lot recently. At the end of the day the creativity is in your hands, use it wisely and reach goals that you dream of.
B: Anything else you'd like to inform us on? The public needs every detail!
M: All I can say is the first single from my third album drops very soon. More revealing will spoil the surprise. *Mykki would laugh, showing a great smile*
B: Thank you for your time, Mykki. We here at Billboard admire your artistry and are excited to see what you have in store for us.
M: Thank you for the constant love and appreciation towards my artistry. Congratulations on your Billboard relaunch. I’ll catch you guys on the charts. *Mykki would wink, raising up from his seat as he answers a business phone call, being rushed away with his team*
