Behind The Scenes: Luna and The Lovers Set to Premiere New Single, 'Ugly.'

We are here at the Billboard Headquarters with an exclusive interview with Luna and The Lovers who is debuting her new single 'Ugly' later today. Luna joins us via Zoom for the behind the scenes scoop.

Billboard: Hello Luna! We are pleased to be seated with you today to discuss your new song 'Ugly' which is going live on all streaming platforms later today!

Luna and The Lovers: Yesss! I’m so excited for it!

B: This is your second official single, following "Primadonna" which reached a peak of #6 on the Billboard Hot 20! What type of sound can your fans expect to hear in this new record?

L: Well the album is a conceptual album, following themes of love, heartbreak and personal issues. Through the eye of these “personas” I’ve created. So the first half of the album is more confident and a “persona” with songs like “Primadonna” and then the second half is more honest and raw.

L: It’s mainly an EDM pop sound, very Max Martin! But it has more classic, vulnerable moments too.

B: We've also received some exclusive photos with you on set of the music video which many people are excited to see. Possibly your most anticipated video yet! What type of setting will we see you in and how was it filming?

L: The video follows a very vaporware, pink aesthetic. With me in sets like a 1950’s inspired diner & me in an old school jeep in the desert. It was so much fun being on set and coming up with the concept for the video.

L: I don’t want to give too much away but it gives people an insight into the storyline of “Luna.” There’s a plot twist/explanation in the video that people definitely need to watch out for! A cameo by a familiar face! *Winks*

B: We also have a question from a fan: Sarah says 'When is the album dropping? I love you so much Luna and we're excited for 'Ugly!' Love from Canada!!'

L: Definitely this year, In the coming months! the album is finished and all ready to go, I’m just planning out the release to make sure it’s all perfect for you! Maybe one more single after “Ugly” then the album!
