Kelly’s Glastonbury Vision: From Headliner to Host!

R: It’s 11:07am here in LA at the Billboard HQ and we have a very exclusive interview today. We have the incredible Kelly(CallTheShots) with us via Zoom, joining us from London, UK. How are you doing?

K: Hi Rhys! Thanks for having me, I'm so good how are you?!

R: So as we all know, you’re a very busy lady working on both music for Spectrum and yourself as a solo artist but today we are here to talk about your latest upcoming event. Yes, let’s talk about the Glastonbury Festival which is coming to HABPOP Hotel on the 12th-14th March. How are the preparations going for what is set to be a historic event?

K: I'm very excited! The stage, screens and room itself got done about a week or two ago before we announced the poster. I got the stage designed by an amazing pixel artist from Russia and it's one of my favorites yet.

The detailing on the roof is incredible! I've always wanted to do this event too as it's my favorite festival so I'm super stoked. So hopefully we are almost there, the main thing that's needed now is artists' sets/visuals/lights and rehearsals!

R: I know hard you must be working right now, I can tell it will all be worth it. So I have the poster up in front of me here and I see an incredible line up. You have artists from many labels and genres, covering a good range of the industry. Was there a specific reason for choosing this line up for Glastonbury 2021?

K: Thank you! I really wanted to make sure that everyone had a fair chance, from

the older generation and newer generation. That's what I like about Glastonbury

in real life, it celebrates the older artists and newer artists because that's

what music should be all about, celebrating all levels of talent. I'm excited too

because I feel like people who have never really got their shine will hopefully

have a platform to showcase more of their talent to people!

R: I can’t wait to see everyone perform, it will be a thrilling weekend. We’re very honored that you’re letting Billboard report live from Glastonbury that weekend. Are we in for any surprises or can you not say much?

K: Aww thank you! Yes there will definitely be a few surprises but my lips are sealed sorry! R: Ahhh we are in for a treat! So as well as organizing this festival, you will also be headlining the Saturday night. Can you share any information about your set and how do you feel headlining one of the biggest festivals in the world?

K: Yes I'm so pumped about headlining! It's been a dream of mine to headline Glastonbury so the fact I get to do it as CallTheShots is amazing. It will definitely be a career highlight for me. I'm excited to perform hits I haven't performed in a while!

My set I don't think it will be anything too over the top, it will be festival

friendly as I want people to be more enticed by my performing, but hopefully it

will be cute and snatch a few wigs!

K: Thanks for having me Rhys it's a pleasure! And all I can say is if you get chance,

please come! With our current situation in lockdown right now, it'll be the most

stimulating, accurate version of a festival we can get right now. Let's all live
