Billboard Returns: What You Need To Know

We're back guys, and we're here to stay. The constant love and support for Billboard motivates the team each and every day, helping us bring forth creative ways to spice up the industry. This article will cover everything you need to know, from our charting system to future projects.

CHARTING

The charting system this year is similar to the older model. Besides a few tweaks to keep the chart balanced and fair, these same three categories are vital for maintaining your position on the Hot 20 Chart.

STREAMING SALES: Retweets are considered streaming sales in this year's system. Streaming sales are peaked at 100 RT's and if a single receives more, extra points are added. Streaming sales are worth 35% of your overall chart data.

PURE SALES: Pure sales are the actual amount of views on your video. Worth a whopping 50% of your overall chart data, it is imperative that you promote your singles in order to rake up those sales. Each view makes a difference in how well your single is doing.

PROMOTION/HYPE: Promotion is a good way to ensure that your single is scoring high on the previous two categories. Worth 15% of your overall chart data, performances, comments on your videos, and it's likes all factor into how popular your single is.

UPCOMING PROJECTS

SPOTIFY

Billboard is currently compiling a list of projects that we feel would benefit the industry tremendously. On the menu tab, you can see a Spotify section which is currently under construction. Artists will be able to submit their singles, EPs, and albums to the Billboard Team who will then post on the Spotify page. Artists will be able to gain extra points for pure sales and streaming sales depending on the stats of their Spotify single.

PAPARAZZI SYSTEM

In order to inspire role-play, Billboard is coming up with a paparazzi team who will spontaneously capture images and demand answers to rumors and other interests surrounding that artist. Answers will be recorded and sent back to the Billboard team, who will then come up with an article for said celebrity. Paparazzi will also be sending images to the fashion department for the Fashion Police. Also, they will be attending the hottest events getting the scoop on all your favorite celebrities in one place.

FASHION POLICE

Billboard will be contacting some of the biggest names in fashion to partake in our Fashion Police segment, where red carpet, event, and public looks will be evaluated.

JOURNALISTS

Something new happens everyday... announcements, releases, events, etc. If you have a knack for writing, Billboard invites you to apply to be a journalist. Applications will be going out soon.
